A large moth cast in pewter hangs from links of smoky quartz beads. All hang from sterling plated brass chain with a silver plated pewter hook and eye clasp. Necklace measures 18" or 46cm long.
This necklace is inspired by my affection for the dark sister of the butterfly-- the moth. Like the butterfly, moths symbolise transformation. They are night creatures drawn to light-- maybe a bit like you and I.
In folklore, often the soul of a witch travels in the form of a moth. Before modern electric light, moths were guided by moonlight.
I've chosen to pair this moth with smoky quartz-- one of my favourite stones for it's grounding qualities and ghostly colouring.
All my jewellery is made by hand by my partner Mike and myself in a converted 18th century naval school on the wild North coast of Scotland. All pieces come gift wrapped.
